    Hey Titleist Folks!

Looking at the club archive, I see these have "Special neutralizer dowel" in them. I want to reshaft these, pulling the S-300's and putting in PX 5.5's at 1" over.

    1. Is there anything special I need to do?
    2. Does the dowel come out with the shaft?
    3. I haven't pulled a head yet, is the dowel in place instead of a shaft tip weight? If so, is it epoxied in and can it be removed with heat?

Kinda need to know this before I start the reshaft. Glad I read about it!

Hi Mike,  You may have the wooden or plastic dowels that were glued in the tip.  They were strictly used as a "feel enhancer" and not for swingweight purposes.  We don't have either any longer and you can build your clubs without them.

Thanks Cathi. Just one more question about this. Do any other models have the dowel/feel enhancer? If I can't find a PW head I may have to go to a different model.

By the way, is it possible that Titleist has any replacement heads, or seconds, or returns? Every time I bid on a 690 PW on eBay the price goes crazy. Must be a lot of Florida golfers using these. You gotta have something. Have read some of the Tour players are still using these. May be after Darryl Survey Day, but they're still in use.

    Thanks,
    Mike

    Hi Mike,

We no longer use those feel enhancers so don't have any around.  I thought it was interesting that you said someone on tour was still using the 690MB irons so I checked and in 2011, Jose Maria O, Scott Piercy, Inigo Urquizu and Richard Green are using those irons, but none of them are using the PW from the set.   Vokeys may be the way to go!
