I recently had a shaft fitting done at a local golf shop. I was told that the computer software picked a True Temper XP S300 shaft as a candidate for my swing. As I am seriously looking at a set of AP 710's for me and I don't see that particular shaft offered on the website, but I do see a True Temper HL shaft offered. Are these shafts similar? Can I get TT XP's if I order from a Titleist Dealer?

    Thanks,

I am assuming the computer software you are talking about was the Mizuno shaft optimizer.  The software is a good starting point for trial, but not a sure thing.  Titleist does not offer the Dynalite XP shaft.  I would suggest testing the 710's with a Titleist fitter to determine which shaft you need based on performance.  The Tri-Spec, NSPro105T, or DGHL shafts would be good to test.

    Hope this helps.

I am a fitter as well and have used the Mizuno system, it can be a starting point but that shaft is a Product that Titleist doesn't offer. Also hitting a shaft in one head doesn't mean it's going to work in a different head, you really should go get fit for a Titleist iron with the Sandra they have and see what works for you.

I will be testing the True Temper HL shaft tomorrow on the course. It will be interesting to see how it performs against the KBS shafts that I have been using for the past two years. I like the KBS feel but I hit the ball too low. The Mizuno fitting system did give me an alternative which was a Project X shaft 5.0 and I have used these before in a set of Mizuno's. I fount that shaft to be too tip stiff for my taste that's why the TT HL or XP has my interest. I'm guessing that the TT require a much smoother tempo.

What I really think is that at my age of 56, I just don't swing as aggressively as I did even 3 years ago. My goals have changed as well, I'm not looking to out drive the guys in my group I just want the consistency.

I will post the outcome of my on- course test with the TT HL shafts as soon as possible.

    Thanks,

Thanks for the suggestion. It's difficult to find out what exactly is right for you with such a variety of shafts and manufactures, but it can be a positive learning process as well. One just wants to get the most out of their game and have as much confidence in every shot. I was told that the TT DGHL shafts were very similar to the XP so I will investigate further.
    Thanks again,
    David H.
