  1. Lots of people talk about "releasing" the clubhead through impact but oftentimes are confused as to what exactly is happening. While you can certainly have different definitions, clubhead "release" to me describes the action of the lead hand and arm as the club moves through the hitting area.

You can tell alot about how someone's "release" functions just by watching them hanging out on the range talking to a friend. Check out this video that describes what "release" means to me, what to watch out for on the range, and a quick little drill to help you get the right feeling the next time your out on the tee practicing.

I hope this helps you...please comment and let me know your thoughts and questions!

Thanks Brandon for your explanation of the release. I like to hear different ideas about what happens in the swing, what people feel that they are doing and the way to do it right.

Glad you liked it! How the clubface moves in the downswing gives lots of players "fits"...and it has a massive impact of ball flight control! Keep up the good work...

Great tip there. Thanks, I will work on focusing which way my palm is facing as I take warm up swings and in practice
  9. It's always a good idea to at least keep an eye on it...just remember that changing your release pattern in this way will have a HUGE impact on clubface control (and consequently ball flight as well). Keep up the good work!

Thanks for the tip. TPC Las Vegas in the background?
  11. Good eye!!! I live in Vegas for 6 years prior to moving to Georgia. I ran the PGA Tour Academy on-site at TPC Las Vegas. Without a doubt the best range in the Las Vegas valley!!!
