  1. I'm 68 Years old and I've played since I was 12. Neumann GC was in my back yard and it soon became the "street corner" in which I grew up. Hank Wilms was the pro. I have fond memories of heading to the clubhouse in early morning hours and helping Hank drag the dew off the grees, stocking the coolers at the concession stand and when riding carts came out we'd bring the carts up from the cart barn. I never had an official job at the course, I was more or less the "kid" that they couldn't get rid of. Even in the evening when Hank was waiting for the last of the players to come in Hank and I would sit on the porch and listen to the Cincinnati Reds on radio. He'd sometimes mention to me that he say me on #7 that afternoon and I was getting a little loose at the top. He'd then go into the shop and come out with a club and a few balls. We'd hit off the decorative green that was in front of the clubhouse. Do you remember one of your Acushnet sales reps. (his last name was Huber) Mr. Huber and I played 9 together. I also got to meet Dave Marr, Played 9 with Carol Mann at Royal Oak GC. and have many memories of the old game. At 14 years old I shot my first even par round, I'll never forget it. I played with an Acushnet Club Special. I was always fond of the Acushnet/Titleist brand. I've been lucky enough to play in the US Open qualifier, I've played in numerous Cincinnati Metro. Championships and Publinx tourneys, 3 club Championships, and 2 course records. I had my first Hole in One in 1966 at Neumann #15 with a 7-iron the ball was a Super 88.. Then #2 in 1975 at Hidden Valley Lake in Lawrenceburg Ind. on # 8 192 yds with a 2-iron and a Titleist/Acushnet proTraj 100 #3 , #3 was in 1977 at Neumann on 18, 145 yds with an 8-iron with again a Titleist/Acushnet ProTraj 100 #3. In 2019 I had a wrist ptoblem. I had a surgery performed where they removed a bone and implanted a titanium disc. Due to a problem in bending my wrist I couldn't get to 90 degrees on my backswing. I lost about 50 yards off the tee and had real problems with my Titleist MB blades. My handicap went from single digits to a 10. I felt that I was suddenly ready for an "old mans" set. Lighter weights and Senior shafts now have become what I play. But I couldn't find myself hitting anything but my the Titleist ball, old habits are hard to break. Then 43 years after my last ace on April 27, 2020 at Aston Oaks GC hole #6 122 yards with a a 9-iron lightening struck again, my 4th hole in one. This time it as with a Titleist ProV1x #6. And if you don't believe in lightening striking a second time get this. Sixty-eight days later on June 29th 2020 at Aston Oaks GC on the same hole but this time from 149 yards with an 8 iron my Titleist #2 Pro V1x jumped into the hole. Crazier things have never happened to me. Two Hole in Ones in just over 2 months for an over the hill 68 year old. It must be the ball. Or my Footjoy Icons that I've had 4 pair of. Whatever I feel that I've been very fortunate and lucky. By the way my wife recently gave me a dozen Titleist Pro V1x's personalized with my initials (JSM) and all # 51's, for 1951--the year I was born. By the way of the 5 aces the last 4 were in skin games. see Titleist has been really good to me. Thank You Acushnet/Titleist Jerry Merkhofer
