I am 62 years old, have been playing golf 40 years and before May 13th, 2020, had never had a hole-in-one. Like other golfing fanatics, I had come close to a hole-in-one and had holed a few 2nd shot eagles on par 4's but had never had a hole-in-one until last month. I had right knee meniscus surgery in early March of this year and had just started playing golf again in mid April, mainly at my home course, Belmont Country Club in Ashburn, VA. On Wednesday, May 13th (my oldest grandson's 6th birthday), I was playing with a regular group of members. On the first and second holes at Belmont, both par 4's, my second shot irons went long and just over the greens. On the downhill 3rd hole par 3 over water, the pin was on the right, front of the green and was playing 120 yards into the wind. With a front pin into the wind, I would normally take an extra club but since my first 2 irons had gone long, I decided to go with my 8-iron which is normally a 120 yard club for me. I struck it well and yelled "go" in the hopes of carrying the water and hitting the front of the green. Not only did my Titleist NXT Extreme cooperate by landing on the green about 10 feet in front of the pin, but one bounce later, I had my first hole-in-one!. With a great view from above the hole, myself and my 3 playing partners all had a clear view and seemed almost as excited as I was. What a great day!
