I'm 64 years old and have been playing golf since I was a kid. Since retiring from the corporate world a few years ago, I've had the opportunity to work on my golf game like never before, playing 1-2 times per last over the past 2 years. On the momentous occasion, I hadn't planned on playing. But, 2 friends asked me to play with them at Palo Alto (California) Baylands Golf Links. I gladly accepted, and we teed off at about noon. Because I needed to be back home at about 5pm, I was feeling a bit stressed for time, especially on the front nine. I even told my playing partners that I may have to stop after nine holes. Thankfully, after parring hole 9, I felt something compelling me to continue on. Then some momentum starting building on the back nine: double bogey, bogey, par, par, par. I was on a pretty good roll when I stepped up to the par 3, 130 yard #15. The pin looked as difficult as it could be: top shelf, back right. It was a bit downwind, so I pulled out my PW and went to the tee box. Even with the wind behind me, I had the feeling that, if I did hit middle green, it would roll back down the hill and be a long and tough 2-putt. So, at the very last second, I decided to switch my PW for my 9-iron, and the rest is history. My very first ace!
