Playing a practice round on February 13 in preparation for our annual MGA Red Tee Tournament on February 15, we had struggled all morning due to cold, blustery conditions with winds out of the northwest anywhere from 15-20 MPH. Hole number 17 is a narrow par 3 running north to south with water on the left side and two green side bunkers on the right side. The hole on this day was in the front of the narrowest portion of the green playing 114 yards but the strong wind made club selection difficult. The first of my playing partners hit wedge but the ball ballooned into the wind and was pushed right into the first bunker. My second playing partner topped his ball into the rocky penalty area bordering the lake. I decided to hit one more club and try to punch a 9 iron but had to aim 20 yards left of the flag which was in the middle of the water because of the strong wind into and pushing right. The shot was well played and the ball (Titleist Pro V1) was pushed right 20 yards and produced a pitch mark about 8 inches left of the cup where it spun and rolled into the hole. I had made another hole-in-one shot on this same hole 14 years ago but did not see the ball go in due to sun glare and the location of the flag. I was excited to actually witness the disappearance of the ball this time.
