Registered my first hole in one after playing golf for nearly 30 years!! It happened at the 32nd annual American Cancer Society Richmond Golf Classic, on May 3rd, 2021 on the 17th hole par 3 located at The Foundry Golf Club in Powhatan VA.

The shot came just 5 holes after I made a generous donation to the American Cancer Society, The woman collecting donation told me it would bring good karma, but I never expected this!!

#17 was a "closest-to-the-pin hole" for the tourney and is a short, downhill par 3 with a tiny green surrounded by bunkers. Shorty before we teed up we heard (and saw) the 4-some ahead of us celebrating what turned out to be a shot stuck to 2.5 inches from the cup. While that 4-some was waiting on the next tee box, the 3 guys on my team had 2 misses and another stuck to 5ft. The hole was playing 135yds, downhill and into the wind. I grabbed my 8 iron and hit the greatest iron shot of my life that tracked directly at the pin, landed 4ft form the cup and rolled right in!!!!

Turns out that not only was this my first hole-in-one, but the first in the 32 years this tournament has been hosted!!!

The hole was sponsored by Mercedes and I'm expecting a call from them to tell me what I won. Naturally I won closest to the hole too!!!

I'm still walking on air. Next to my kids being born and my wedding night, this is my single greatest achievement.
