I called my local course yesterday and was able to get a walk-on tee time for the afternoon. I was paired up with a twosome that consisted of an older retired veteran, Bill, and his friend, Ted. While we were walking we discussed the course, how I had played there in high school and that I got a hole-in-one on the 5th hole during my varsity try-out. We also discussed how we thought it was quite odd that the neighborhood abutting the course's 4th hole was already lighting off fireworks in the middle of the afternoon. Bill joked that they knew good things were going to come on the next hole, especially after my story. We all laughed as we approached the tee, little did we know that Phil was right. I hit last in the group, Bill and Ted both hit the green, I stared down my tee shot as it headed right towards the pin and then disappeared, right into the cup. No bounce on the green, no pitch mark, just a slam dunk right into the bottom of the cup. It was one of the best moments of my life, and I am sure it is a story we will all tell for years to come.
