  1. Determined to not hit it my tee shot left or in the water, I tried a new approach to this hole. Irish #7 normally plays about 165 to 170 yards. Water in the front and right, and back, a nasty tree on the left near the front tees. Today, the tees were forward, and the pin was in the front left corner towards the bottom of a grand left to right swale. Typically pin position is mid back on the rights side. A challenging hole none the less. So today, Thursday July 8, 2021, when we hit the tee, I noticed the forward tees and great pin position for my normal shot. My app showed about 131 to the front edge of the green and the pin was about 4 or 5 yards in. I selected an 8 iron. Wind was at my back. I went to the far tee marker and picked up a broken tee, and teed up my Titleist ProV1x 6. I always pull the ball left, so I made a mental note to look at a dead tree across the pond and on the right. I took a solid swing and made good contact with the ball, and pulled it left, but not that bad. I don't hit the ball high, but this was a good strike for me. The ball landed about 5yrds from the from of the green, left of the pin and took 2 bounces and rolled on to the green towards the hole. I was relieved that I finally hit the green and started walking back to the cart. Our playing partners started to get excited because the ball was still rolling towards the hole. Suddenly, Mike said "it went in" "it dropped". I was a bit more reserved yet excited. I said we will see when we get to the green. Sure enough, as we drove the cart towards the hole, my ball was not on the putting surface. Approaching the hole I was very anxious, and peered in. Woo Hoo!! My Titleist ProV1x 6 was in the bottom of the cup!! We on to finish the round with a 39, and tied my partner. It's the first time both he and I were under 40. A fun round!
