I played in a friendly match for my club, Brampton Park against a local team, Thorpe Wood on 7th August. I'm a 25.4 handicap, so had a shot on the 11th a par 3, and it was pinged at 211 yards by my partner. "That'll be my driver, then!" I said, and promptly but the ball on the tee, and took out my driver. The ball flew well - unusually - and dropped short of the green, but then trundled up the green and fell in.
None of us could believe it, and the other three played their shots - wide of the green.
We all walked up and I was asked to check the hole..................and there is was, my ProV1, in the hole. Photos takenm, video taken and I was on cloud nine!! Next hole? Drive down the middle, but duffed everything after that.
As it was a club friendly, it doesn't score anywhere but in my head and my playing partners heads.
So, 4.11pm on the 7th August will always be a "hole in one" moment forever.
I've been "playing" golf since 1991 and this was my first.................and now I hope to repeat it in a competiton, but I could be 97 then!
