Good Morning Editors/Writers,
My name is Pat Huffer, PGA Head Golf Professional at Wenatchee Golf & Country Club in East Wenatchee, Washington. I am writing to relate a story that I truly believe is noteworthy and more importantly worthy of publication to the golf community, particularly given the revived popularity of golf.
Over this past weekend, our fine facility hosted its annual WGCC Harvest Classic Golf Tournament, an individual stroke play competition open to all members and guests. The event boasted a full field and was a huge success with some great golf played over the two days. What stands our most notably is that one of our golfers, member Brian Fair, not only scored an ACE on our challenging par 3 17th hole in Saturday’s opening round, but proceeded to back it up by holing it out again in the 2nd and final round on Sunday. Different hole locations of course.
Our 17th hole is not long but it is challenging due to green speed, slope, and undulation, that can rival any tough courses. Finding the right quadrant and the hole can be extremely difficult most of the time. The course was set up at its tournament best and many considered the hole locations a true test. Mr. Fair’s ACE on Saturday was from 148 yds, the pin tucked in the back over a severe slope. His 2nd on Sunday was from a shorter distance of 129 but the pin was equally challenging requiring precise yardage at “check”.
We are obviously awed by this accomplishment and sincerely hope the press can give it worthwhile ink and air.
