On August 6, 2021 I joined the hole-in-one club, a prestigious club that my dad has been a part of for about 15 years now. I go into this club as a legacy of sorts but the cool part about it is that we joined the club in back-to-back rounds (15 years apart) with my brother as a witness. My brother, who was a great golfer in his own right and is 52 now and was a D-1 golfer, has never had a hole-in-one but like I said earlier, he’s seen at least two.
The last time all three of us got together for a round of golf was Father’s Day 2006. Like my hole-in-one, my dad’s was on an uphill par 3 where you knew it was a good shot but you didn’t know it was in until you got up to the green. 15 years later we all got together again for a round of golf and what do you know? Another hole-in-one. It was a slightly uphill, 176 yard hole, I hit a 7 iron short of the green, big bounce onto the green where it rolled to the back of the green and into its home. So now my brother, the best golfer out of us all, is the only one not in the club.
I guess we will have to get together more often for golf and maybe the next time we do, my brother will be able to write to you about his story. Until then though, I’ll continue to rub it in his face and bring it up as often as I can.
