I just started playing golf again after a six year hiatus during which I played once due to a combination of a health issue followed by response to Covid locking down the world. I am a high handicap golfer but enjoying get back in the game. On my second outing I was having my typical mixed day with good holes and bad. Number 8 at Sky Creek Ranch is a short par 3 with a narrow green sloping into trouble on both sides. The pin was forward so it was about 106 yards from the standard tee. I chose my Titleist Vokey Design 56° wedge and took a full swing. It flew high and straight. I was afraid it was going to be short but it hit about 6 inches in front of the hole and rolled in. One of the other golfers started yelling, “You got a hole-in-one.” but I couldn’t believe it. It wasn’t until we got on the green and I saw the ball in the hole that I realized I hit my first hole-in-one.
