30 years ago I played golf for the first time at the Sunken Meadow blue course in Kings Park, NY. I was 8 years old. That day I made my first par from the reds on the 3rd hole. Driver, 2 putt from 102. Yesterday I played the sunken meadow blue with three friends. I just finished telling them the story of my first par while we were waiting to hit on the 3rd hole. I was playing the blue tees and they were pushed all the way back. Hole was playing about 138 yards. Pin was tucked behind the front right green side bunker so you couldn’t see the cup from the tee. I hit a great shot and nonchalantly said, “that could go in…”. When we got up to the green there weren’t any balls in sight. I knew I hit a great shot and saw my ball mark about 12 feet away. I walked over to the cup and BOOM-A C E !!! The feeling was indescribable! My father had his ace on a foggy day and didn’t see his go in either. I didn’t shoot a career low or get my ace on a famous or picturesque hole, but it was special that I carded it at the place that I first played. I’ve been so close to getting an ace so many times, but this time I was perfect. It was perfect. I know you saw it from heaven dad.
