I have been playing golf for 66 years (I am 75 y/o) and have never had a hole-in-one. While playing in a charity tournament today, I got my first ace. The pin was on the front of the green. I hit a 6 iron not very solidly and was sure that it was going to be short of the green. The ball dribbled over the front fringe of the green, which was elevated, and disappeared from view, but I was sure that it was well short of the hole. I dropped my cart mate off to get to his ball and we both noted that we still did not see my ball. (The green was elevated well above the cart path.) I drove around the green and parked the cart. By then the other three players were jumping up and down and yelling to me that the ball was in the cup. I had a hole-in-one, and was undeniably, the closest to the pin. My wife was in a lady's foursome right behind us and she was able to share the excitement with me. What a great day.
