  1. A historic “hole in one” day just took place at the historic Elk Rapids Golf Club! What started out as a normal leisurely round of golf for longtime Elk Rapids Golf Club members, Kay Romska and Kathie Keiser, quickly turned into a day they and our historic club will never forget. On Monday June 20th, their group approached the Par 3 8th tee measuring 97 yards on the historic Donald Ross course; it would be Kay first to tee off. Kay hit what appeared to be a great shot while it was in the air headed to the perfect landing spot near the green. As the ball rolled on the green, it quickly disappeared into the hole! The celebration began and everyone in the threesome, which also included ERGC member Brenda Corner, cheered and congratulated Kay on a once in a lifetime shot. Once the group's emotions were controlled and the foursome of fellow ladies league members in the group behind them gathered on the tee , it was then Kathie's turn to hit her tee shot. Similar to Kay's tee shot, Kathie's ball appeared to head towards the perfect landing area as well. To everyone's disbelief, the group watched Kathie's ball disappear into the cup and joined Kay's previous hole in one ball! Kathie stated “it was a miracle and I didn't believe it until we looked in the hole! It was so exciting to experience it with all our good friends around and they were as excited as we were!" Kay stated that "I was absolutely blown away and then astonished by Kathie's ball following suit." For Kathie, this magical day in Elk Rapids was actually her second hole in one this season. Her first took place at Sandridge Golf Club in Vero Beach on April 4th of this year. As the Elk Rapids Golf Club General Manager and Course Superintendent, there is nothing more exciting than to help our members celebrate this special milestone with their own course flag that they can proudly display to always remember their amazing “hole in one” day. Congratulations to both Kay Romska and Kathie Keiser on accomplishing what the PGA of America suggests is a 17 million to 1 odds feat! Well done ladies!
