We ran into a buzz saw. The other team was "ham and egging" every hole. So me and my partner went to the Par 3, 148 yard No.8 at The Hamlet Golf and Country Club saying to each other "one of us needs to get this tight". My partner went first and sailed one wide left. All I said to myself was, "I need to put a good swing on this ball, and I better not shut my face down", as there is a pond and bunker covering the right side of the green (I am left handed, so a draw on this hole is almost always an automatic bogey or worse). As soon as I struck the ball I knew it was a good shot. I saw the ball land next to the cup on the right side and bounce forward. Then after only one hop it pulled back down towards the hole and the right to left break (from the tee box perspective) brought it to the cup. Then the drop and the ensuing cheering, high fives and fist bumps. Being a private club, word traveled fast and that became a very expensive shot!
