There were three of us playing in a scramble and I was to hit first at the 111 yd pin on hole #16. I used an eight iron as my distance has dwindled over the years (65). The shot stayed on a string the entire way hitting the green about three feet from the pin and releasing forward into the cup.
One of my playing partners agreed that it was close but not necessarily in the hole. While I thought it “disappeared,” I kept quiet until we got to the green when I noticed that one ball seemed to be missing. Turns out the ball mark looked an awful like my golf ball when looking at it from the tee box.
While I was repairing ball marks on the green another player pulled the ball out from the cup and asked me what ball I played. I quickly said it was a Pro V1x with a red number 1 on it. He gave me the ball back.
