My dear mother put a golf club in my hand when I was 12 years old. Her name was Ann Ochen from Michigan . I would tag along with her as a little girl when she played in a league at Bonnie Brook Golf Course in Detroit. Sometimes I would sub for the league if someone didn’t show . I played with my mom from Michigan to Florida and she taught anyone in the family how to golf if they wanted to learn . She even taught my husband Bob and son Bobby! Years went on and I played with my husband, son and occasional league play . After I retired as a RN I began to golf more with my husband when we retired to Venice Florida. My dear husband Bob had his 1st ace 10 years ago in Novi Michigan My husband booked a trip to play TPC Sawgrass Stadium Course on 7/27/22. We also played with a caddie “Mike” and 2 nice guys named Troy and Pat and their caddie Mike . We started on the 10 tee ! I told the guys that I hoped I could ace a hole before I die lol. Mike teased me and said he had a feeling I’d get one . It began to rain when we made the turn on the 2nd hole, but we kept playing. With 2 holes left I stood over my ball on # 8 and thought about my mom and said a little prayer to her . I was playing a brand Titleist . I hit the shot and it landed on the left side of the green and slowly tracked into the hole ! It only took me 56 years to get my 1st witnessed ace at the very special TPC Sawgrass. All the guys jumped up and down and everyone around the course could hear us yelling! Not too shabby for a 68 year old girl from Allen Park Michigan! It flew 118 yards hit with a swoosh club and yes a special brand new Titleist ! My husband, son, caddies, ranger and all the guys around Sawgrass helped me celebrate my 1st HOLE IN ONE on # 8 and is now my lucky number !!!! The last person to ace # 8 was Viktor Hovland ! He is the 68th and I am the 69th ! Guess I am in good company!
