I have been an avid golfer for 54 years. No shortage of rounds. While playing my home course early in the morning, came upon a familiar site. The 4th hole, first par 3 of the front nine. This day played 148 yards. Pulled my 8-iron, which I peg to be a 150 yard club. Hit a clean shot headed right for the hole. Saw it land but then lost it. My partner asked me how I did. I said "Well, it is either in the hole or went over the back." My playing partner got to the green before I did. He walks his puts down from the ball to the hole to get distance to help his speed. He got to the hole and turned around toward his ball. With his lack of emotion, I resigned myself to believe I went past the green and started to walk that way. For some reason, my partner turned back around toward the hole and looked inside. Then looked at me with a huge smile. Then I knew. 1st hole in one in 54 years. You can't wipe away my smile. So elated. It is so great to check a box I thought was not meant to be. Now on to #2.
