Royal Blackheath GC, August 2022. 12th hole playing 178. There was next to no wind so I selected my 6 iron and placed my Titleist Tru Feel on the tee. I usually play a pro V1 but my 6 year old son had found the tru feel at the club during his lesson during the day and wanted me to use that ball for luck! Then the magic happened. As soon as I hit the shot it felt good. Tru Feel balls are a decent ball. I followed the flight down and the ball seemed to disappear from sight. I thought the ball would be behind the flag or right in front of it because we couldn’t see the ball (obviously). There had been some maintenance on the greens too that week and they were quite soft so I thought it could be buried! As I approached the hole I also thought I could have somehow powered the ball past the white flag into the back bunker which would have been devastating. I then saw a big pitch mark before the pin and that is when I knew it was in the hole. It was great to share the moment with my dad and I look forward to playing with my son when he gets older as he is obviously a very lucky little boy. And we all know how important is to be lucky on a golf course!
