First Hole in One

  1. Finally, hit the shot that we all dream off. The elusive hole in one. A shot that doesn't necessarily correlate to your skill level. Rather a shot of mostly luck. I have been playing golf for almost 30 years, since I was in middle school. Never really sniffed a hole in one. I am 2 handicap and have been as low as +2 before. So I have hit shots really close and holed a couple fairway. But never hit one that really scared going in the hole. I was playing with a group of Dad friends that I have never played with before. A group of friend that always talked about playing but never did. Well, this might be my new foursome. I started the round off nicely. 2 textbook pars. FIR, GIR, 2 putts. Then we step up to a short par 3. that is playing 110. Pin is in the front middle of a green that slopes back to front. I hit a flighted 52 Vokey Gap Wedge that I was just trying to land on my number. As soon as I made contact my ball never left the flag stick. Tracking the entire way. I knew it would be close. It landed just a few feet short the hole. Typically my wedge shots just stick but this one bounced forward just a bit and started rolling. We could tell the ball was on line. The ball rolled in just as if it were a perfect putt from below the hole, just grabbed the edge and curled in. BAM! The group in sync immediately yelled and started celebrating. High five's for everyone. We saw the cart girl on the very next hole and we were off of a great day of golf. Was able to shoot -1 on the front and a 75 for the day. Amazing memory and milestone for a golfer!
