It was a beautiful Minnesota 'start of fall' evening, sun shining, 75 degrees, with my trusty ole bag on my shoulders walking our 'Monday night league course'.
We had back-to-back 3 sum groups and I was in the trailing group with my brother. We approached the #2 handicap, par-3, number 5 hole. Our buddies concluded the hole as we were dialing in the yardage to determine what club to hit.
It was playing 175 yards, slightly uphill, with a back center pin location. I decided to play a 90% 6-iron with a baby cut. As my ball reached the top of the apex, I was slightly blinded by the sunsetting. The ball landed on the green and happened to hit the pin. Our buddies made a loud scream, amplifying the moment of a possible hole-in-one. One guy ran up to the hole and low and behold my Titleist ProV1x, red 4 was sitting at the bottom of the cup.
I tossed my club, jumped for joy, looked at my brother and gave him a huge hug. I went on to tie my PR of 73 and surprisingly managed a $54 tab for first round on me.
