My wife and I joined 5 other couples on a golf trip to Cheraw State Park in South Carolina. This beautiful course is on Jubilee Lake.
When we teed off the morning of November 16, 2022, it was 45 degrees and I was not doing that well to start the front 9, with bogies on holes 1-6. Then, on the par #7, I hit a 210 yard approach shot from the edge of the woods, and with my 3rd shot, a 40 yard pitch shot, I eagled the par 5 #7.
I was not feeling strong on the back 9, but as we approached hole 14 coming from a terrible job on hole 13, I hit a beautiful knock-down gap wedge that landed in front of the flag and dribbled in slow motion into the cup. My first ever hole-in-one after more than 40 years of golf!
Lots of shouting followed by my wife and the other couple who witnessed the shot.
What a fun day, I can’t wait for the next one!
