I was playing the Vancouver Golf Tour in absolutely brutal conditions — 25 mph winds and about 30 mm of rain. We started on Hole 11, and by the time we reached our final three holes, it was already getting dark. I was 1-over par, leading by one shot going into the 8th hole, a par 5. I managed to make birdie there, then we rushed over to the 9th, a par 3. My playing partner quickly hit his tee shot and told me it was 102 yards. I parked my push cart and walked to the tee with my 56°. Right before I hit, I realized it was playing huge into the wind. My stock 56 goes about 110 yards, and I was worried it might spin off the green. I was too lazy to go back and grab my 52°, so I decided to hit a low draw to take some spin off and fight the wind. I made perfect contact. The ball landed just past the pin, slightly right — it was hard to see in the dark. When we rushed up to the green, we only saw three balls around it. Then my playing partner checked the hole — and my ball was sitting at the bottom. Even par. Four-shot win. And my first ever hole-in-one.
