My son, age 13, and I decided to go play a quick 9 holes at our local CC. It happened to be the afternoon of the "Greenkeepers Revenge" tournament that took place earlier in the day. The pins were in exceptionally hard locations and he wasn't having his best round to put it mildly. Coming off a birdie on a par 5, Hole 15, he was feeling a little more confident. He pulled out his rangefinder and determined the hole was playing right at 130yards. For him, this was the perfect 8 iron. He struck the ball cleanly and we heard it hit the pin. We looked at one another with elation, and asked... "Did that just go in?" Not knowing for sure, we hurried to the green, and sure enough, my son officially joined the Hole in One club! He couldn't stop smiling for the rest of the day!
