First and only hole in one (so far) when living in Okinawa, Japan. I was an Air Force member stationed there for 4 years and still currently serving in NC. The 2 days following my hole in one, the course was going to be closed for maintenance so I am glad I went when I did.
Standing at the tee box 168 yards away with my buddy and his friend, the wind was in our face ranging from 5-10 mph. I grabbed the 6i and struck it well. The wind held it up and the ball landed short but I had some forward roll on it. The pin was tucked in the back of the green behind a hump. As the ball rolled and swerved toward the hole, it reached the area the flag was at but we couldn’t tell due to the hump blocking our view. I started a live stream as we walked toward the cup. “Wouldn’t that be crazy if it went in” was echoed amongst the 3 of us. As we arrived to the green, there was no ball in the area so I checked the hole. There it was, luckily a ProV1 and not any other ball, sitting inside the hole. Such a great feeling to have that box checked!
The course created an etched tag on a plaque on the newly created “hole-in-one board” within the pro shop. I kept the ball and stopped using it after that hole. It is sitting in my house with the scorecard from that day.
