First round of the NJ season, with a wife 8 months pregnant, I decided to get out for what could be one of only a few rounds of the year. After a decent start, I hit a 9 iron into the wind (extra club due to wind) and hit a great shot that spun back but left little excitement because I could still see part of the ball. Assuming it hadn’t dropped I didn’t expect much until I got up to the hole and saw 25% of it below the mark and the ball resting on the flag stick. It took me 2 holes to finally confirm that it was indeed a hole in one based on USGA guidelines and while the traditional experience was missing, I get to celebrate my first and possibly only hole-in-one
