I made the hole in one on 27/05/2026 on the par 3, 10th hole from the yellow tee
at Southport and Ainsdale Golf Club (my home club).
That hole and the one previous (the par 5, 9th) were quite a roller coaster of emotions and
scores. I tee’d off on the 9th hitting both the first and second balls out of bounds into the cemetery
running down the right side of the fairway. My now 6th shot ended up 157yds from the pin.
I then hit a 7 iron which landed pin high and then sank the putt. So that was an 8 but effectively a birdie
with the ’third’ ball ..! haha
When I came to play the 10th hole the yardage to the flag was, incredibly another 157yds. The 9th and
10th fairways run adjacent to each other and in the same direction so the wind and conditions were identical
to the shot I’d just played.
Out came the 7 iron again and amazingly the ball landed on the green, took two bounces and into the hole she went.
As this was my first hole in one it took the next couple of holes for it all to sink in.
Probably 'the' goal for most golfers is to get a hole in one so I’m truly ecstatic at achieving one.
