  1. Earlier this year, I had my first hole in one, literally 30 years after I fell in love with this game.

It was a typical Sunday morning, playing my local course, Mile Square Golf Course in Fountain Valley, CA, with two of my close golf buddies, and a single the starter paired us up with. I didn't have much going on the front nine, and the bogeys were piling up. My friend noticed my alignment being off, and reminded me on the 6 tee. Started feeling better with the swing I had that day, and on the par 3 8th, dropped a ball on the turf. It's a sunny, calm January morning in SoCal, and I hit a stock 8 iron from 160 yards and it takes a bounce near the hole and disappears. My playing partners tell me it's in, but I'm skeptical after the near misses over the years. Sure enough, as we get closer to the green there's no #1 ball in golf (tm) near the pin ;-)

My group is cheering and we know the guys in the group behind as well, and they are also cheering. Later, I'm reflecting on all the joyful times I've had in golf with family, friends, teammates, and my high school golf coach. I appreciate all these people so much, and I still see the single they paired us with at course some times since, which is fun.

Not having a hole in one did not bother me. But it sure was fun to finally get one :). What a great game to say the least.

    Thanks for reading! -Andrew J.
