  1. Hi all,

I have 2014 Scotty Cameron Futura X5 Dual balance and I want to change the grip. But the local shop guy’s saying the putter shaft is too big to fit into Super Stroke XL grip. I have no idea and don’t want to risk taking off current grip. Can it fit into normal putter grips?

Hey Lin, No it will not work with normal putter grips as the head weight is way to heavy and would throw off the balance of the putter. You would most likely have to get a Superstroke counter balance grip with their countercore weight that goes in the butt end of the grip. If you want to get a feel for these grips most golf shops that carry the Odyssey O works putters have the different countercore grips on them, but with no weight. The other option you have would be to change the weights out of the bottom of the putter head. This would be a lot more expensive than the 30-35$ Superstroke grip option. Good Luck!
  3. thank you Corey

but isn't the weight from of the butt end in the shaft itself? And will the superstroke grip will fit the shaft of dual balance since it’s a little bit bigger than usual?
  4. Thank Corey

That’s what I’m thinking too. Buy a superstroke xl or counter core grip and change the grip. But what concern me is that the local shop guy saying Superstroke won’t fit into the putter because the putter shaft is bigger than normal Cameron putters. Visually he’s correct. The shaft is a little bit bigger than usual ones. So I’m thinking should I buy superstroke or find a Scotty Cameron original grip, which is very hard to find in my country(Burma) and I hated the grip itself. That’s one concern.

Another one is that I’ve been surfing all over the internet and some people saying weight of the dual banlance is in the shaft. Not in the grip. Is it correct?
  5. Hey lin, were you able to change your grip? I have a 6m dual balance 38" and would like to cut it to 35 or 36 but having trouble looking for a grip that will not throw off the mechanics of the putter. Even the scotty dual balance grips are hard to find and purchase.

If you cut the shaft down you will need to re Weight the putter so would probs be better off selling and buying the right size/ weighted putter to suit !

Also Never used a dual balance putter what’s the pros and cons ???

I use a Newport 34” with a square superstroke grip witch squares the face up lovely for me :)
  7. Just out of curiosity, why do you want to switch grips? I have a dual balance as well and I really like the stock grip. I think it fills my hands nicely.
  8. You could order a replacement grip directly from ScottyCameron.com or send your putter into the custom shop to be regripped....

Has anyone tried installing super stroke counter balance in a Futura x7m dual balance putter?

I want to cut it down from 38 to 36inch and install the super stroke.

Based on this thread I’m not sure it will fit? What’s the core size required for this shaft? The super stroke I’m looking at has a .580 core.

    Thanks

Is there a specific super stroke I need to buy that will fit on the Futura x7m dual balance?

Would a .580 core fit on the 38 inch model cut down to 35?
