Just curious if anyone has any hands on time with these? I currently have a 2012 Newport 2 that is stainless steel. I see there's one of older Pro Platinum series ones for sale in my area. Just curious how the 2 compare feel wise and if the Pro Platinum tends to rust easy?

    Thanks

In answer to your question about the Pro Platinum putters rusting, I have a 1999 Pro Platinum putter and I have never had any issue with it rusting. I sent it back to Scotty six years ago to have it reconditioned and came back looking like new.

I have an old Pro Platinum Mil Spec that is 20 years old. Its does not have a spec of rust on it. Like most clubs, you just have to make sure you wipe it dry after every round. Classic, great, collectible putter btw, snatch it up.

I've got a Pro Platinum that I've had for 16-17 years, kept it in play until February 2018. Can't go wrong w/ one.
  6. I have the Pro Platinum Mid Slant and bought it new in late 1999 or early 2000 and it does not have any rust and it still looks great. Just take care of it and wipe it dry if it gets wet. Also have the Newport 2 from 2009 and to me they feel pretty similar since neither have inserts.
Go get that Pro Platinum and enjoy it!!
  7. I used my Pro Platinum for years...great putter
Then I moved to SC Newport 2 and used it for 6 months before going back to the Pro platinum
It is a wand so buy one if you can!!

I personally think the the Pro Platinum and Stainless putters are the best feeling. I have several of these and have not had any problems with rust and I use them regularly .
  9. Pro Platinum has a different sound than Stainless Steel SSS putters thus for some the Pro Platinum may sound firmer or more with a click than a softer feel. IMHO
  10. The Pro Platinum finish won't rust unless it gets dinged badly enough to expose the carbon steel underneath the plating.
