Started playing the great game of golf per doctors orders for help with memory and head injury recovery. I suffer from PTSD and found golf to be great for me. I was bitten by the golf bug and fell in love with the game. So much so that I always watch and even had VIP tickets to the Womens Open in Colorado this year, unfortunately I was only able to attend 1 1/2 days of the entire event since I suffered a mild heart attack on my way there. Was so disappointed, since my kids gave me those tickets for my birthday in advance last year. Anyway, don't know if everyone falls for the game as hard as I did, but encourage everyone to get out there and try it at least once. I have started several family members playing the game since I started as I don't like to play alone. Unfortunately this is a very expensive game and unable to play as often as I would like. My two favorite golfers are Natalie Gulbis and Phil M. Tried to meet Natalie in Colorado Springs but was in hospital, was so sad. Would love to run into Phil someday. I was forced to retire due to my head injury, but would love to go to golf school and maybe learn how to play better or learn more about the game so I could get involved, maybe help John Elway with some charity events or something, or just beat my brother in law once in a while. Well drive straight and putt smart everyone, take care maybe we will meet on course someday.

Keep playing. There's ways to save money on greens fees.... 1. Twilight or earlybird can be substantially cheaper than daytime or weekend rates. Example is a course that normally has $50-100 greens fees has a $25 early bird or late afternoon 9 hole special (it is generally harder to find regulation courses that offer 9 hole rates, let alone specials). My weekends are pretty busy so I play early every other Friday. 2. Executive courses. Most of them in San Diego are $20 for 9 holes. There is one (Tecolote Canyon) that is $10 for 9 or $15 for 18 (and the par 4s are legit; that is, not a borderline par 3 rated as such but 300-339 holes). There is also one par 34 exec (National City) that actually has a 485 yard par 5 and the greens fees are $12. Exec courses are good for beginning golfers because the par 4s are short enough that the green is still reachable in 2 even with a bad drive and they also help better golfers with par 3 scoring (and some of them have 200 yard par 3s) and wedge play on the par 4s.

Hey Milton, There's tons of good affordable golf in CO, you just have to look. I grew up in the Denver area and there's several affordable executive and par 3s. I also know there’s really good affordable golf in Pueblo. Like he said, twilight is a great time to golf, and many of the nice courses offer off season rates. Also sign up for email updates to courses in your area, many of them do discounts and deals. The Colorado golf passport is well worth the money if you head north or west sometimes.
