The lower spin of the Pro V1x will typically help high speed, high spin individuals control the ball in the wind.

Agreed.  I live in chicago where the wind tends to blow, and i've played both the V1 and V1x, and find that I definitely get a more penetrating lower spin ball flight with the V1x, but certainly not a noticeable sacrifice in spin/control/feel around the greens.  V1x is a very durable ball as well.
