For my 40th birthday all i wanted to do was go to Golf School for a weekend with my childhood friend.  We both turned 40 over the winter and couldn't wait for this day.  We went to a golf school called "The Original Golf School" in Mount Snow, VT last weekend.   Did the 3 day school and had so much fun.  It was a 4:1 so we received a lot of attention from the teacher.

The teacher we had was great.  He didn't overwhelm me with tips, just the right amount that truly helped my game.  I can feel the difference and definitely have more confidence in my game.  Just need to hit the range a little more and keep working...

If anyone is every looking for a golf school in New England, i highly recommend checking out The Original Golf School.  You won't be disappointed and the Mount Snow Golf course you get to play..  WOW.  Truly a fun and challenging course..

I would like to share the best chipping tip i received over the weekend.  When you're around the green (on the fringe or a little further out), use an 9 iron or PW.   Here's the key part, with gripping hold it like you're putting instead of a normal iron grip.  You definitely seems to have more control with that shot.    Took a while to get used to but boy what a difference.  (If you already knew this, my apology for repeating).

    Cheers!

In regards to my chipping tip, i never really considered the fact that everyone holds their putter differently and obviously it might feel awkward holding an iron like that..  So it may not work for everyone...  Sorry about that.

Do not rule out any of your irons down to about a 5 iron for this type of chip using the putter grip. Normally on certain holes where there are no bunkers between my ball and the pin and I have a lot of green to work with, this is technique I use. I usually use an 8 iron but as I stated up front do not rule out any of your irons. As with any golf shot you must practice this until you feel confident. I much prefer this chipping technique over using a hybrid or fairway wood when just off the green.

That is a great tip.  I would only add that the conditions should fit the shot.  If you are in a position to use a PW-7 iron to bump and run the ball keeping it on the ground longer will truly benefit your shot.  However I will warn that this shot needs to be practiced as the tendency is to run the ball by the hole due to the jump off the club face (at least for me anyway).  Make sure there is enough green and short grass between your ball and the pin on these shots.

Don't worry about the putting grip comment...you were right in that you should think of it as a putting stroke, if your grip allows you to grab the club that way all the better!  Glad you had a good experience at the golf school.
