This posting is directed to the TT members that have suffered the physical handicap of a stroke. On Wednesday, June 11 (my 60th birthday), I spent my first night ever as a patient in the hospital. I am lucky, as it was a mild stroke. I have my speech, hearing, vision, taste, smell. However my entire left side is numb and feels asleep. I had a blood clot on the right side of my brain. Hopefully in 30-60 days my feeling will return, no guarantee.
At this time when I grip a club with my left hand (I am RH) the shaft feels like a spaghetti noodle. There is no sense of touch. On Friday I was at the golf club on the putting green and short game area. I had no sense of balance on my left side, as if I had vertigo. There was no way to find the ball with left hand only, but using both hands I could putt and pitch after a couple of hours practice. By Sunday I was attempting half swings on the course. I will continue to work on my game several days a week. I will return to this posting to document my progress.
I would like to hear from TT members that used the game of golf as physical therapy to regain use of their limbs which have no feeling in them.
