The Titleist Tour Fitting Van visited my home course at Atkinson C.C. in New Hampshire today. I dropped by to talk about a putter fitting as everything else in my bag is brand new - 913D2 driver, 913F 3-wood, 913H hybrid, 712U 3-iron, 714 AP2's and two SM5 wedges.
My old Scotty Cameron RedX2 center-shafted putter has been in my bag for many years, so I was wondering if I needed something fresh, or if it even fit me properly!
I was fortunate to be there when nobody else was scheduled, so both guys, Lucas Bro and Joe Burdess, spent nearly a half-hour with me on the putting green straightening out my stroke, not selling me on a new putter!
We started with a straight 6-foot putt. They had me set up to putt and found I was aiming 3-4 inches right. I thought I was aiming right at the hole! By the end of it, I started focusing on squaring the face to the alignment line on the ball. I've never used the alignment line before, I always relied on the lines on the putter.
I can't wait to get back out to practice! Thanks Joe & Lucas. NOW THAT'S TEAM TITLEIST!!!
