was watching the McGladrey "Classic" today and wondered what a tour ant does to attain that designation. Is. It years. Realize the opens, PGA, Masters are exceptions. We used to have the Bob Hope Classic, the Honda Classic, etc. then there was the Colonial National Invitation. Are the fields different or is it just marketing.

Has to have drama, a comeback, huge stumble, great course and something that immediately triggers memories... See 2008 US Open at Torrey Pines!

I think he is asking How and when is Classic used in the tournament name,  I thought if it was a reoccurring tournament that had been on the PGA calendar for many years.

Though some changed the name after the person or company died or company changed names  ( BC. BH, etc.)

I wonder why some of todays new talents have started or picked up  sponsoring a tournament, i.e. JT, BM, RR, etc.
