Hey all TT members. Just wondering, has anyone short on time gone to a place like Golf Galaxy or GolfSmith or a Dick's sporting pro shop to get fitted for the new 915 drivers? Could really use the input from the TT family.

    Play Well,

    Steve S.

Steve S,  i went  to Golfsmith  when they was having demo day for Titleist. The tech rep"s name was David Piper and it took 45 mins.  and I had a blast !!! He filled out a custom club order form with all the info neded to order my new driver. Simple as that.  Hope this helps.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                              steve b

    Steve,

My take on this is to make time.  Make time to see a certified Titleist fitter.  They have all the shafts and knowledge about the product and they represent Titleist.  After you get fitted, then go see these stores and see what kind of deal they will give you for the exact product.

Sometimes the proshop will give you a better deal than the store.  Also, since you're fitted for that club, chances are you'll like it and thus the "90" day guarranty won't apply.

I waited over two months for a Demo Day/Titleist fitting day and could'nt be happier knowing that the club I'm hitting/swinging is more or less built for me.

This was recommended by other TT members and I'm very glad that I listened.

    Good Luck

    Steve,

    Prioritize, buddy!

Make the time to do what is important.  How long are you going to play with your clubs?  How many strokes are you going to take?  How many times are you going to curse yourself for not hitting a shot flush.

My advice, get down to Oceanside California for a tour fitting.

There is no substitute for the best!

    Good luck!

I went to Golfsmith when the 915 first came out and had a great experience. They were very knowledgeable and helpful with all of my questions.

As you go up the food chain from Bag to Cart to Advanced Fitting Center, Regional Fitting Center, Tour Vans and Manchester/Oceanside, you simply have more shafts to try. I'm LH, and they may only have one driver head to try. By the time you get to Oceanside, if the shaft is in the catalog as a stock option, it will be there in all flexes. I actually get a better price from the AFC in town (lucky for me - only 1 in the state) than from the major retailers in town. If the retailer is hesitant to special order or starts suggesting other brands, I'd walk.

Steve, I prefer the guys from Golfsmith over Golf Galaxy in my local area, they seem more knowledgeable and I trust the PGA Pro at Golf Galaxy. This is my experience in my local area. However, I have a general idea of what works for me and the numbers I want to achieve.

  11. At the end of the day you are working with individuals so find someone you trust and have confidence in, no matter what type of Titleist Distributor they are, and have fun!
