Does anyone have any unusual habits or routines on the golf course? I'm almost embarrassed to admit this but I often take out a new ball on par 3's because if I were to make a hole-in-one I'm going to take a photo of the ball in the hole. I've made two hole in ones and have taken a picture of both Titleists in the hole.

A couple tees, ball marker and divot tool always have to go in my left pocket.

I just like to tee off last on the first hole, not to odd. I hope.

Whenever I go on the first tee I have to bounce my ProV1x on my driver twice to make sure it sounds right and for good luck.

I always bounce a new ProV1 off the face of my 913D2, to let first contact be center of face! Then I pull one of the two tees I have in my left pocket (I'm a lefty) that's there with my Scotty divot tool, and 2004 Masters Ball marker. Like I said, lefty paying homage to Phil! Then it's off to my best round ever.

I may be one of the few non superstitious golfers out there.  I do like playing a number 3 ball,  it's never a bad score...

    otherwise I've got nothing.

Good question. I like your thinking in switching the ball out just in case there is a photo op. I tap the tee marker with my club before every tee shot. That is pretty mild compared to my friend who licks his ball every time he puts a new one in play.

I always keep tees and ball marks in my right pocket. I also use the club shaft to line up on all my full shots, but never chips and putts.

I always have two tees, a repair tool, and a ball marker in my right pocket.  I have seven golf balls in my bag, four are already marked and the other three are not.   I never tee off on the first hole with a brand new ball.  Just a few habits for over thirty years.

2 tees, ball marker and divot repair tool in my right pocket. Why? Because I putt with my glove on and I put those items on the barehand side. One superstition, I never pick up a ball I find. I don't want someone else's unfortunate shot. Bad karma.

I will sometimes switch in a different ball on Par 3s.  I know if I ever get a hole in one I'm going to keep the ball and display it.  So the last thing I want is to have some crappy used and scuffed up ball be on display for ever.

As for anything else, not really.  I use to be pretty superstitious, but I guess now I'm not.  But after looking at some of my scores this year, maybe I should start.....

Well Jonathon and tdogg -- I had read this posting two days ago and chuckled at what the two of you said about swapping out your balls for a new one on Par 3's in case you get a hole in one.

I thought that was a bit "cheeky" but I liked to idea. So today, my first round since I read your posts and only my second round in 4 weeks (we've had lots of cold rain these past few weeks), I approached the 11th hole - a 112 yard par 3 and thought to myself that I may as well try it and see what happens. SO I put my Pro V1x away and pulled out a brand new Titleist NXT Tour S, being a bit cheeky thinking that one never knows when the photo op will come! And sure enough, after putting on a 3/4 swing, I hit my shot with a pretty good ball flight and trajectory, before watching land fairly softly on the green and roll our some 5 feet before dropping into the hole!

Heck, there really is something to this "new ball" on Par 3's thing! HAHAHA ... I could not believe that serendipitous circumstances and when I got to the green and pulled the ball out (after taking a photo of it in the hole), I did a little Gangnam style dance like James Hahn did at the 2015 Waste Management Open in Phoenix after he sunk a nice long birdie putt!

So fellas, thanks for the tip! Next time I play, I'm going to also bounce my Pro V1x off the face of my driver for some good karma! Heck if the one works, maybe the other will work for me too!

Nothing unusual. Show up on the first tee, take out my 915H 17.25* hit it down the middle and hit a nine iron on the green and hope to make a birdie and at worst a par. Step up on the second tee (par five), take out my 915D2 10.25* hit it down the right side of the fairway, take out my trusty 816H1 20.0* and aim at the middle of the green (avoiding the sand on the left and the big tree and sand trip on the right) and hope to bounce it on the green for the opportunity for an eagle, if not, at least a chance for an easy birdie and a worst a par. At least that is the way I hope to start my round each day, then of course there is that thing in the middle of my ears and wind conditions that just might get in the way. But I am always goal oriented and have a plan. No quirks! Cheers, Chuck

    Hi Cathie,

Yes, I have a photo of the ball in the hole, plus my playing partner took a photo of me with the flag and my ball. But, there are no photos of my Gangnam jig on the green! The nearby work crew also got a bit of a laugh out of it too!

Since I carry all the time, I like to hang my Titleist Towel around my driver with one side a bit lower so when I walk it hangs low when I'm walking.  Its completely OCD. haha
