TT friends, need a lil advice. In April I'm taking my 1st golf trip to the lovely country to our south, Mexico, or as they say in espanol...Mexico. To be specific, the Cancun area. I've never flown with my clubs so a bit nervous about that. The course I'm playing has rental clubs available...wont say what brand they rent on this Awesome new Team Titleist site but they rhyme with "Waylor Lade".....get it? Did you get it? "Waylor, Lade"..... :) If I take my Titleist Clubs...any tips from you Frequent Flyer/Golfer TT members? How are the airlines with them...Buying a "Club Glove" cover for protection..... is it worth the hassle or do I rent? Any tips would be so appreciated. Thanks in advance...or as they say in espanol...... gracias bell-grande! Thanks again!

Maybe worth touching up on your Spanish prior to your trip south. I've personally never played in mexico, but have overseas previously, (Turkey, Spain, Tenerife, USA Florida, Cuba & have my next competition abroad in Dubai) My first advise is to work out how many times you are likely to play while there? transport of clubs isn't that easy at times, and works out expensive if done wrong! Playing the one or two rounds over the course of a fortnight I personally would hire.. The tourist courses, keep on top of the equipment updating on a annual basis in most cases. But... If you wanted to take your clubs, invest in a good quality travel bag I won an amazing Titleist Travel bag last year, I then purchased a club umbrella, (extendable stick that goes into your bag and has a hard plastic umbrella to protect your clubs) I would also invest in head covers or wrap a towel in between your iron heads to keep them save. But at the end of the day, if you go away and play once you have to worry about the safety of your clubs for the remainder of your stay. going for fun I would hire, going for a competition I'd bring my own clubs without a shadow of a doubt. I hope this helps.

Hi David, First off, have an awesome time in Mexico. Some of my favorite rounds have been played down there and I can't wait to get back.

In terms of traveling with clubs, I've always used the Club Glove Last Bag as a travel bag and love it. I also added the Club Glove Stiff Arm recently and it adds another level of peace of mind.

Again, have an awesome trip and make sure you share some pictures!

    Cheers,

    Mike

Hey David A. I have been going to Cancun since 1992. I have played several rounds there. Iberostar seems to be buying up most of the courses, which is a good thing. I've seen nothing but improvements since the have. I would say take your own sticks. I never have and always rented them. I always wish I had my own. Last year I played at a new course right on the hotel strip. It was built by Tom Watson. Very easy course compared to my course at the Jersey Shore. Be prepared to sign a waiver that says they are not responsible if you get eaten up by the gators there. Make sure you bring plenty of balls too. The mangroves are no place to hunt for golf balls. Have a great time! Play Well, Steve S.

David, (like the name) I recently got a new set of clubs AP1's and am keeping my old DCI 990's to use as my travel companions. I know these clubs and still like them so no guess work for me. Hope this helps.
