I agree, with the Professionals playing, its just another PGA event. I would love to see the worlds best amateurs compete. The same can be said for Basketball also.

Love the idea of Olympic Golf...that being said these Summer Games that are upon us are not looking good on many fronts...If there are major failures during the Olympic Experience in Rio will golf be one of the tarnished events?

No excitement for the olympics on my part in general, or for the return of golf to the games. I agree it'd be of more interest if it was an amateur event. Adding golf to the games feels forced to me.

Kinda wonder how well the course will hold up with all the rounds and all the players.

An Olympic event with the worlds best amateurs would be the way to go and pros shouldn't be part of it. That would make for a more interesting event to watch!!

The issue with having amateurs play in the Olympics is that they are restricted from most of the financial remunerations. The couldn't accept many of the sponsorships or prize money associated with playing in the Olympics. If there was an exception drawn out by the USGA/R&A/governing bodies for participation in the Games, then there could be an argument for having amateurs represent each county (which I would personally enjoy more). Of course the second and third order effects of such an exception are probably why it won't be made.

To me, it seems like a 5th major. I agree and think this should be based around the best amateurs.

I would like to see a different format instead of stroke play. Maybe even a mixed team category.

I agree with most of the TT members that it should be amateurs competing. The olympics to me are for the amateurs who train and dedicate themselves to represent their country. Pros have their bonuses leave the olympics for the amateurs.

The more golf, the better. If it grows the game, I'm all for it. As to who plays, who cares. It is for a gold medal. Plus playing for your country. What could be better than that. I would love if Titleist would sponsor the .
