I just finished up a bucket list trip to the Monterey Peninsula; played Poppy Hills, Spanish Bay, Spyglass Hill and Pebble Beach. My new found respect is hitting out of the rough. The professionals make it look so easy on T.V. especially when the ball is buried. The rough wasn't very tall, but man was it thick! I was clubbing up 15 to 20 yards compared to my 5 to 10 at my home course. On top of the distance, the grabbing of your club was definitely a factor for accuracy. Just another reason why those guys are professionals.
