I just finished up a bucket list trip to the Monterey Peninsula; played Poppy Hills, Spanish Bay, Spyglass Hill and Pebble Beach. My new found respect is hitting out of the rough. The professionals make it look so easy on T.V. especially when the ball is buried. The rough wasn't very tall, but man was it thick! I was clubbing up 15 to 20 yards compared to my 5 to 10 at my home course. On top of the distance, the grabbing of your club was definitely a factor for accuracy. Just another reason why those guys are professionals.

I've played many iconic courses but haven't made it to Pebble. Those courses are so full of history. Hope it was fun!!......

Wow, fantastic trip and you do play a lot of sideways and upside down golf. Looks like the weather was great as well. Did you eat at the Tap Room? They have a great Kobe burger, chili with prime rib and a huge chocolate sundae, the 1/2 of sundae is big enough for two. I'm lucky enough to live an 1 1/2 hours away from PB so I'm down in the area a lot.

I've been fortunate enough to have played all of the courses you mentioned and several other courses played on the the PGA Tour. It is always humbling to play a course these guys play. To me, one of most impressive factors of their games is the ability to putt on different grass week in and week out at such a high level.

I've only played Pebble once, and it was memorable. I'll never forget holes 7,8,17 &18. The other highlight was that we stayed at Spanish Bay. My wife practically set her alarm clock so as not to miss the bag piper coming down #1 fairway and around to the fire pits!
