Played 9 holes here in Asheville with a great guy today...Titleist Club Pro Bill Stines of Scioto Country Club. After the round I spent some time on Google giving myself a history lesson on Scioto CC. It's kinda cool running into people on the golf course that have a great connection to Titleist and Historic Golf Courses. I would love to cross paths again with Bill someday...possibly he will host me at Scioto CC?

    Quick Scioto CC Facts:

Scioto CC is located in Central Ohio.

    Donald Ross Design 1916

    Tournaments Hosted

1926 U.S. Open - Bobby Jones (amateur) 1931 Ryder Cup - United States defeated Great Britain 9-3 1950 PGA Championship - Chandler Harper 1968 U.S. Amateur - Bruce Fleisher 1986 U.S. Senior Open - Dale Douglass

That's the beauty of the game of golf. You never know who you are going to meet on the course. I call it the great equalizer. My dad was a club pro with the most beautiful swing. Even though he was just a club pro, after about 15 minutes of going out on the range to practice, much more wealthy members would come out and form a gallery and watch in awe as he stroked each one down the range.

I, myself, have had the pleasure of playing with current and former PGA tour members, as well as a couple of Heisman trophy winners.
  3. I was excited to read your post...I play at Scioto Frequently and is the gold standard for golf in our state without question along side Muirfield Village, Firestone, Inverness and many others!

Bill is a standup guy and represents the club well! I am glad you had a good time!!

    Very cool Dr. K!!

I may run into him at some point for a Titleist fitting since he is closest fitter in my area and right down the street!! I love driving by there almost daily but do not like the fact that I can't play there!!

I second what Chris92009 says in the fact that Ohio has some very high caliber private courses and Scioto is one right near the top. I would love to play The Golf Club in NE Columbus as it is a very high end top 100 US course overall designed by Pete Dye in early years though very private as well unfortunately.....

That is a great story, happy for you. Isn't it fun to play with someone that is really good and respects the game! I always learn so much from watching how these guys approach the game.
