Can anyone tell me why Titleist Release dates and in the Fall? After Being a Titleist loyalist for several years now. It seems to me to be bad timing of all the club release dates and Prototype golf ball testing to us Team Titleist members. For example this is the second time I have been blessed with "test" Prototype balls to play and report back. A privilege I cherish and am honored to be a part of. The thing is, both times it has been in the Fall. I live in Ohio and the weather here is Not necessary golf friendly in October. Lots of cold rain muddy condition and not to mention the falling leaves. So testing the prototype balls is a challenge in the timely manner to email back to Titleist my thought on the new ball. This got me thinking about the fact that the majority of the country is going through the same thing. Even the Titleist Head quarters is Boston! New Model club release dates to the Public is In October? Why? Why would I want to buy a New Driver or set of Irons and not get to play them until Spring. Sure there are some Golfable days through out the winter but why not release the new clubs and prototype balls in the Spring when everyone is buying new equipment for the up coming golf season and Itching to get out and play anyway? It seems like we could give a better review of the new balls during the Summer when we can hit them more than once or twice before loosing them in the leaves or imbedding them into the muddy fairways to never be seen again. Just my thoughts! What do you all think?

    Todd,
I agree with what you are saying and think it would be great it Titleist could/would move up their release dates a little. On the opposite side, instead of being one of the first kids on the block to purchase any new Titleist equipment coming out, I wait until the following summer to make my purchases. It gives me time to read tons of reviews and also attend demo days and such, before pulling the trigger.
As for ball testing, I live in MO and we deal with the same type weather you do (although it's been really great weather here this fall, albeit a little to dry). The last time I was lucky enough to get some TEST balls, it was cold, wet and generally just nasty out. It's tough to perform a decent evaluation in conditions like that. Don't lose hope, maybe Titleist will push their evaluation period up a bit.

Good point Todd I am in a similar position living in Ky. Oct-Mar. can be miserable for golf with the exception of a few days here and there.

Well, I am also in the Northeast so I feel your pain. We northerners need to remember that a lot of the country is still well into the golf season in October.

A lot of the Tour validation is done over the summer when more of the Titleist players are still playing a lot of events. The fall release is done after Tour validation.

While it does stink for us in the north, it also means that if you wait until spring to order you clubs, the factory/custom shop is not as busy and there will be less chance of delays due to an order backlog or parts shortages.

Great comment, I actually just bought the 917 D2 and wish we were going into spring. By the way I do love my new driver, #awesome
  7. I agree that the club release date is a little inconvenient. Test balls on the other hand, they will be releasing next year. If you were to test them during prime golf season, then they too would be released in the off season.

These are all good points. But being a person who lives in the Southwest Desert, our new golf season is just beginning so the release dates for Titlest works perfectly for us. Just depends on where one lives.

I don't know about balls, but for equipment, the release dates make sense because the greatest shopping period is just starting. Christmas. Treat yourself to a new driver for Christmas or put one on your Christmas list.

I'm going to make a guess. By releasing in October/November the new products, maybe that way in the northern climates with things being a little slower on the season winding down, they don't have to worry about running out of product right out of the gate. The Southern folk get going on the longer season putting in all their new orders, and it's a little slower in the Northern climates, with some folks dying to get the new stuff, and a little extra push for those getting new "toys" for Christmas presents and the like. Maybe it gives Titleist a little time to ease into the great rush for the new products, or even prolongs the interest in the new products until us Northern kids can get our hands on it. Just thinking outloud.
