Go ahead and play. Your Professional partner should understand your current skill level. Go into it with a "I plan to enjoy myself" attitude and have some fun.

From the other side, I have played in a number of Pro-Ams as the pro. It is the pro's "job" to make sure that the Ams have fun and maybe even learn something. They may be out there trying to make a check, but the primary reason for the Pro-Am is to support the charity. If the Ams do not have fun because the Pro makes them uncomfortable then there is no reason for them to support the charity via the Pro-Am in the future.

Remember, unless you are one of the best players in the world there are always a lot of players out there that are better then you. Play you game, have some laughs and maybe get a tip or two.

Me personally, I played competitive pretty much since I started. I just love the game. I also have a realistic outlook on my game (then and now). I knew I wasn't going to be winning anything back then. Now, I know I have a chance. Regardless, play the game to the best of your abilities at the time...you'll improve accordingly to the amount of ability you're capable of.

Most Pro Ams are some form of scramble/shamble/captains choice and players are handicapped accordingly in hopes to make the teams fair. Most are about raising money for charity and having fun. There are normally all levels of players on each team. It all depends on the format of the event. Normally the night before the event, there is a reception/dinner and teams are drawn. My advice is not to worry and have fun. I have played in them as well as worked them as a volunteer. Normally it is all about charity and you will get to meet some interesting people.

Just play your own game and have fun, they understand. Played in lots of tournaments and still get nervous on the 1st tee. Just play within your own game and you'll be fine! Lots of younger players out there that drive and hit their shots farther but surprisingly par is still par!! Good Luck and enjoy the moments..

Don't annoy the pro by complaining about your game. There is no expectation to play at that same level. Be serious in trying your best but after that, have fun. The pro can help you read greens and may help you with a slice. You may have a great round with some tips and pointers. But if you put one in the pond, you put one in the pond. Just don't sent the club there for punishment.
