  1. Hey Team!

I'm sure that many of you have played team sports prior to picking up golf. As you know part of being a team is having a team captain. This person has the charisma, leadership, and skills needed to lead his/her team onto the field. The team trusts the captain to make the right calls in the tight situations, to bring the team spirit up when the team is down, and to be the role model for what a good teammate and player should be. In golf unless you're playing on a team, you're on your own.

My question: How to do you captain yourself? i.e. how do you fire yourself up to "rush the field" before a match.

I know that golf is about containing emotion and being very level in mind. But I want to know how you get yourself into "game mode."

Thank you all for your posts. I look forward to reading all of them!

To get out and into game mode I always try setting goals that are around my game something I know I can do but need to have the concentration and drive to achieve. I won't hold back emotion especially if it's positive when playing and then negative emotion just channel it out appropriately and move on.

Also, side bets or little money games don't hurt to get me fired up and ready to play well either.

Music is a great way to get fired up! The same songs that got me pumped up before games have the same effect before playing a round
