On a business trip to England, I took an extra to acclimate to the time change. I stayed at the Hanbury Manor outside of London. They have a Harry Varden 9 hole course Jack Nickolas remodel as an 18 hole course. The business portion involves public transportation in London so I elected to rent clubs. They had a new bag for a LH of 917 D 10.5, 917 F2 15, 818 H1 21 degree, and 718 AP1 5-W with the AMT shaft, 52/56/60 SM7s, and a new Cameron Newport, and the 14 way bag still had the plastic bags in the pockets.

I've not had great luck with rentals in the past - the LH set on occasion has been a mis-mash of tired old clubs usually missing a couple of irons. The set was fairly close to my bag. I don't know that I lost any strokes due to the differences. When rentals are an obvious choice, I'll try to find courses that rent Titleist. Especially with TM stock sets, I've definitely lost strokes over what I expected with my own clubs.

Hi Steve, my buddy and I are both TT and TCC (The Cameron Collector) members and are approx. 40 minutes from London so if you're ever in these parts and want to play let me know. Regards.

If a retailer is a fitting account and buys a certain level of stock, Titleist allows them to 'purchase' Trial Sets for fitting/demo/rental purposes. In the US, though, the trial sets are all RH. Someone must have special ordered the LH set?

    And, really, Jack "Nickolas"?

Ok, he spells it Nicklaus, but as long as he is wrong on dialing back on the ball, ...we're even. I'll just leave that discussion for another thread. ;-)

Wow! My last set of rental clubs in Aruba had either regular or ladies shafts in them. This is a great set to try all of the newest models. Hope you hit them well.
