Are the typical red, white, and blue markers on a course measured in yards? If not, what is "yardage" measured in?

My dad swears that when on the course the 100 marker is not actually yards. He says he can throw a football from the marker to the green; so why isnt he in the NFL?

Please help and settle this argument once and for all

Ask him to throw a football next time you guys are playing.  I'm pretty sure they are measured in yards.

Have you seen him throw a football from the yardage marker to the green?  You should take a football with you the next time you play a round with your dad.

I could throw a football to the green too...........if the green is big enough(about 60 yards from the center to the front)

Yes, golf makes 100yd look small, take a football to the course and see if he can throw it to the center of the green.

Here in the US "yardage", or more properly distance is measured in YARDS. In Europe and the UK distance is measured in METERS.
